Have you suffered a fracture, sprain, amputation or broken bone in your foot due to somebody else's negligence? Then you could be entitled to make a foot injury compensation claim. Any kind of injury can lead to a lot of physical, emotional and financial pain. Our feet help us to stand and perform various activities like walking, jumping, running, etc. and any injury - both minor or major - to this part of the body requires a lot of rest in order to completely heel up before you can comfortably start your daily activities. Before making a foot injury claim it is important to understand more about what part of the foot is injured. The foot is divided into three main parts:

  • The fore foot (5 toes & 5 longer bones)
  • The mid foot (collection of bones in the middle)
  • The hind foot (heel & the ankle)

What Types of Injury Can I Make a Claim for?

There are two main categories of foot injury that you can make a compensation claim for: Bone injuries and foot health injuries.

Broken Foot Claims

Breaks and fractures in the bones of the feet or ankle are a very common form of accidental injury, which can include breaks to the:

  • Ankle bone (or 'talus' bone)
  • Heel bone (the 'calcaneus' bone)
  • Metatarsal bones (just above the toes)
  • Toe bones

Broken foot injuries can also lead to damage to the tendons and ligaments of the foot, which can result in foot deformities and long-lasting impairment. In severe foot injuries, the only treatment available can involve surgical fusion of the bones, which can often lead to a permanent disability and even full amputation of the foot.

Foot Health Injury

A foot health injury claim is often linked to industrial disease and caused at work by conditions like having to stand for long periods or by equipment like protective footwear. Foot health injuries commonly include:

  • Bursitis of the toes (inflammation of the fluid-filled sacks protecting the toe joints)
  • Tarsal tunnel syndrome (compression of the nerve behind the inner anklebone)
  • Fungal infections

As well as the above, foot injuries can also include:

  • sprains
  • amputations
  • plantar fasciitis
  • metatarsalgia
  • arthritis
  • Morton’s neuroma
  • achilles tendinopathy
  • embedded objects
